About Viking Communications

Where are you based and what areas do you cover?

We are based in Oldham, Greater Manchester, and we work UK-wide. A lot of our work is across the North West, but we regularly take on projects nationwide, including multi-site and national rollout programmes. We have completed jobs from single offices through to estates spread across the country.

What services do you offer?

We cover the full range of network infrastructure under one roof: data cabling from Cat5e to Cat8, fibre optic cablingbusiness Wi-FiCCTV and access controloffice IT relocation (moves, adds and changes), electrical installation and testing, and ongoing network maintenance. Because we handle all of it in-house, you deal with one contractor for the whole job rather than coordinating several.

What type of project sizes do you tackle?

Large and small. The standard is the same whether it is a single outlet installation or a multi-site Wi-Fi deployment across an estate. Plenty of contractors are set up for one or the other. We are set up for the full range, so a small job gets the same qualified engineers and the same documentation as a national rollout.

What sectors do you work in?

Commercial offices, industrial facilities, construction sites, retail, education, warehouses, hospitality and more. We are experienced in demanding environments, including high-bay warehouse work at height, which not every contractor is equipped to handle.

Accreditations and standards

Are your engineers qualified and accredited?

Yes. Every engineer is a Certified Network Cable Installer (CNCI). On top of that the team holds City & Guilds qualifications, ECS Certified status, EKAHAU certification for Wi-Fi design and surveying, IPAF and PASMA for working at height, and SSSTS for site supervision. All engineers are site safety compliant, DBS checked and UKATA asbestos aware for older buildings. The engineer who turns up on site is genuinely qualified for the work in front of them.

Can you work on sensitive or secure sites?

Our team is DBS checked as standard, which covers the majority of sites that have background-check requirements. If your site has specific clearance or vetting requirements, raise it when you get in touch and we will confirm what we can accommodate before any work is booked.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry the insurance expected of a commercial contractor working across the sectors and site types listed above. If you need to see specific cover levels or certificates for your procurement process, ask when you get in touch and we will provide them.

Surveys, quotes and warranty

Do you charge for a site survey?

No. Site surveys are free, along with our no obligation quotes. We come to you, assess the site properly and then quote on what the job actually needs, rather than guessing from a floor plan or square footage.

How do I get a quote?

Call us on 0161 660 3002 or fill in the quote form on the website. We will arrange a free site survey at a time that suits you, then provide a transparent, itemised quote. No obligation, no hidden charges.

What does the 25-year warranty cover?

Certified structured cabling installations come with a 25-year manufacturer warranty covering both the components and the installation workmanship. It gives you long-term confidence that the infrastructure will keep performing to specification, not just on the day it goes in.

How is your pricing structured?

Every quote is itemised, so you can see exactly what you are paying for, with no hidden charges. Some work is priced per item, such as PAT testing, while installations are scoped and priced around the survey. Whatever the job, the quote is clear and there are no surprises on the invoice.

How we work

Can you work outside our business hours?

Yes. Our standard hours are 9am to 5pm, seven days a week. On top of that, out-of-hours and weekend working is available on request, and on a lot of jobs it is the sensible option. Retail fit-outs and office relocations in particular tend to run out of hours so your business keeps trading and your team arrives the next morning to a workspace that just works. If your project needs evening or weekend work, tell us when you get in touch and we will build it into the plan.

How long will my installation take?

It depends on the scope. A small office can be completed in a day, while larger commercial or multi-site projects are planned in phases. We give you a clear timeline as part of the free survey, so you know what to expect before any work starts.

Do you test and certify your work?

Yes. Every installation is tested with calibrated equipment, certified and fully documented on completion. You get a complete record of the infrastructure, which matters for warranty, for future maintenance and for any team that has to manage the network after we leave.

Will I get documentation for my network?

Yes. Proper labelling, certification reports and clear records come as standard. A tidy, documented installation is faster to maintain and far easier to fault-find later, which saves you money over the life of the system.
